The Silverwood Band
Over the last year we've had a number of people join the band and we'd like to introduce them to you. First up is Ruth, who has joined our alto saxophone section. She first learned to play the piano as a little girl when her late mum sent her for lessons ("I'm so glad she did") and reached Grade 8. In school she also played clarinet to Grade 7 in the school band Middlesbrough Youth Orchestra. After a break from music she began to learn the saxophone which she loves. Ruth likes a wide range of music from pop, jazz, blues, classical, music from shows and country. She also likes to try and use music in her work as a community care pro by taking her smaller instruments such as celtic harp and ukulele to help clients with dementia, who respond well to music."Thank you Silverwood Band for offering me a seat. It is lovely to be part of such a friendly band and i know it will help me improve my playing. I enjoy the musical challenge." ... See MoreSee Less
